LEAK PREVENTION AND LEAK SEALING
PROCEDURE GUIDE

PROFESSIONAL USE ONLY BY EXPERIENCED, CERTIFIED 608 TRAINED PERSONNEL.

OUR SSR PRODUCTS CANNOT BE INSTALLED OR MIXED WITH ANY "OTHER" SEALANT OR DEHYDRANTS PRODUCTS.

FOR USE TO SEAL LEAKING A/C SYSTEMS OF 20 LBS. PER KIT. (Smaller or larger units should be charged proportionally).

ALWAYS WEAR GOGGLES WHEN WORKING WITH REFRIGERANT.
DO NOT INHALE VAPORS.
AVOID CONTACT WITH SKIN AND EYES.
USED REFRIGERANT OIL MAY BE ACIDIC AND TOXIC.

DIRECTIONS

Run unit to check charge, pressures and amperage to determine condition of unit. If unit is in good operating condition, then continue the following procedure. (See below under NOTES 1, 4, and 6)

  1. Recover one pound of refrigerant, then with unit running slowly add 1 pound (or proportion thereof) of Dry-Pak® (can #1) in the LIQUID STATE to LOW SIDE of system. If possible, run for 12 hours (minimum of 4 hours) before proceeding.

  2. After proper running time with Dry-Pak® in the system (to eliminate moisture) recover refrigerant for reuse in step #6 and depressurize the system.

  3. Change filter/drier(s) (See NOTES 2 and 3). For older systems installation of a hard start kit is recommended.

  4. Change oil, if possible, or add an appropriate amount of oil to the compressor to ensure proper lubrication.

  5. Evacuate the system to remove air (10-15 minutes maximum) and then break the vacuum by injecting 1 pound of Cryo-Silane® (can #2) (or proportion thereof) into the HIGH SIDE of the system in a LIQUID STATE.
  6. OPTION:

    • If the system is NOT to be evacuated, then remove/recover an amount equal to the amount of Cryo-Silane® sealant to be injected into the system.

    • With the system off, allow the pressures in the system to EQUALIZE before attempting to charge Cryo-Silane® sealant into the HIGH SIDE IN LIQUID STATE.

    • NOTE: A dial-a-charge with a HEATER is recommended to measure and charge Cryo-Silane® sealant into the HIGH SIDE of the system.

  7. Charge the system with refrigerant using superheat/subcooling method, if possible to ENSURE OPTIMAL COOLING. (A 95% charge is recommended for older systems)

  8. Run system a minimum of 1 Hour to circulate Cryo-Silane® throughout the system. Then put back into normal operation.

    NOTES

    1. Hermatic compressors in systems with “chronic leaks” often suffer damage before the leak(s) are repaired due to leakage of lubricating oil and overheating and FAIL under demands of full pressures after system is sealed.

    2. Filters in leaking systems often become partially (or completely) clogged with moisture and corrosion products. If the filter/drier(s) is not changed, there is a risk of developing a high differential pressure across the drier(s) following addition of Cryo-Silane®.

    3. Comply with applicable environmental regulations. Use good operating and maintenance procedures per manufacturer’s guidance.

    4. Will not seal larger than 1 pound per leak per day.

    5. If using a manifold gauge set to charge Cryo-Silane®, it will be necessary to purge set, otherwise the tiny breather hole in the gauge may seal. If so, use small pin to clear hole.

    6. Optionally, if it is determined that the leak(s) is in the underground or wall piping, you may then charge the Cryo-Silane®directly into the line by isolating that pipe by blocking off each end, then charge the Cryo-Silane® sealant through a service valve in liquid state and then allowing the pipe to remain pressurized (bottled-up) overnight or until it is sealed. Then recover the gas in the pipe and put the system back into service.
